Engineer Jobs Program Targets Girls

Engineer jobsTwo prominent organizations are working together to provide more young girls with the training and interest to embark upon future engineer jobs.

This summer MIT hosted the You GO Girl! program for the 13th consecutive year. The program, which is sponsored by the NASA Summer of Innovation program and the MIT Edgerton Center, is aimed at helping middle school-aged girls become more interested in science, technology and engineering.

"The middle-school years are traditionally when girls begin to lose interest in science, or when peer pressure steers them away from the science fields," Amy Fitzgerald, program coordinator for the Edgerton Center Outreach Program, told MIT News.

Engineer Jobs Among those Created in Colorado by ARRA

engineering jobSeveral jobs, including engineer jobs, are being created in Colorado as a result of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

The State of Colorado is expected to receive billions of dollars in federal stimulus funding, much of which will go toward creating jobs throughout the state. According to the Colorado Department of Labor & Employment, many of those jobs are available in local databases.

An article by 9News.com notes that some of the jobs that are currently available will be temporary, but others will be permanent. In addition, some openings for specialized jobs also will offer training for new employees.
